International Workshop for Young Civil Engineers
- Facing the Challenges of Our Future Society -

Aim of the workshop

In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE) 2014, an international workshop will be held for young civil engineers, titled ‘Facing the Challenges of Our Future Society’, where engineers from Japan (including international students) and overseas will discuss the challenges facing our future society.
In the workshop, participants will imagine our world in 2050 and consider the problems we will face and the role of civil engineers play in achieving a better society. This event will provide an opportunity for a frank exchange of views on the future of our society among current and future young civil engineers.

10th – 13th September, 2014   *13th Sept. is for a technical tour

Participants

Young engineers (including students) below 35 years old
-->Number of Engineers in Japan  :  35   *any nationality
-->Number of Overseas engineers :  15   *application through partner institutions of JSCE

Fee

Free (inclusive of workshop party and technical tour)
-->Accommodation during the workshop is provided (10th-13th Sep.)
-->Official certificate of participation in the workshop is provided from JSCE

10th September               ice- breaking meeting (evening)
11th – 12th September     Workshop and presentation(s)
13th September               Technical tour

Registration

To participate in the workshop, please submit an essay on the role of civil engineers in our future society (approx. 200 words)

(* if you are nominated by oversea partner societies of JSCE, please send by 30th April.)
Participants will be selected based on their submitted essays if the number of applicants exceeds the quota, with notification by the end of April 2014.
