The 27th International Summer Symposium in 2025

The International Summer Symposium (ISS) provides a platform for international students and engineers to present, discuss and exchange their research interest in English. It consists of paper presentations, and a half day workshop.

The 27th ISS will be held on 10 to 12 September 2025 as part of Common Sessions of 2025 JSCE Annual Meeting.

Workshop for Global Civil Engineers (WS)

"How to develop tourist-friendly and disaster-resistant towns using problem solving approaches ~Let's take a look at Kumamoto~”

    ・Date: 10 September, 2025 (Wed)
    ・Time: 2:30P.M. - 6:00P.M.
    ・Venue: Conference Room A1, Kumamoto-Jo Hall

Workshop Overview

 The purpose of this workshop is to analyze issues in groups using the examples of urban development and disaster prevention in Kumamoto, examine ideas from multiple perspectives, and propose optimal solutions. Participants will deepen their exchanges through discussions based on a general problem-solving framework.

Target Audience

・Civil engineering students
・Young professionals and early-career engineers
・Anyone interested in urban resilience and sustainable tourism
**The workshop will be held in English only. Don’t worry – English proficiency is not required to participate. Just bring your curiosity and ideas!
