Civil engineers and architecture have their own defi nitions and areas that are recognized by the people involved. In order to increase the social value of infrastructure in Japan for the future, we have planned this special feature in the hope that readers will get some hints about the possibility of further cooperation in existing areas and collaboration in new areas.
