The 7th WFEO-JFES-AIJ-JSCE Joint Symposium on Disaster Risk Management in 2013

Date & Time September 5, 9:00-12:00
Venue College of Industrial Technology, Nihon Univ. Tsudanuma Campus >>map
Theme Disaster Risk Management

Outline

There is currently significant interest in disaster restoration and prevention in Japan, such as the revival and maintenance of the social infrastructure in portions of northeast Japan damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake (March 11, 2011) as well as safety planning for future large earthquakes and extreme weather due to global climate change. The engineering organizations related to disaster, such as Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE) and Architectural Institute of Japan (AIJ), are expected to play an important and effective role to collaborate regarding these issues. For the development and improvement of world-wide disaster risk management, JSCE and AIJ have held international symposiums over the last few years, working with World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), Japan Federation of Engineering Societies (JFES), Science Council of Japan (SCJ) and the international organizations related to WFEO-CDRM (Committee on Disaster Risk Management). This international symposium will provide the global community the opportunity to discuss disaster restoration, better mitigation techniques and prevention plans for severe future disasters based upon experiences world-wide.
