International deployment of infrastructure management technology: Achievements and future prospects through industry-government-academia collaboration
Japanese infrastructure management technology, in addition to creating new business opportunities for the private sector in infrastructure maintenance and management, has the potential to expand business to other countries.
The Japan Society of Civil Engineers has established a subsidy program related to infrastructure management technology. It has also entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), engaging in various initiatives related to international deployment of the technology, with a particular focus on road asset management.
This special feature introduces new initiatives by the Japan Society of Civil Engineers. Additionally, it takes a look at the achievements made thus far and the expected results of collaborations with JICA as well as human resource development through universities and other educational institutions, offering specific examples with a particular focus on road maintenance and management.
