Condolences to Bangladesh over the attack on July 1.
On behalf of JSCE, I would like to offer my deepest sympathies and condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and injured in the appalling attack in Dhaka, Bangladesh in the evening of July 1. The 20 hostages including seven Japanese were killed. The Japanese, 3 of who were JSCE members, were conducting researches in a infrastructure project to relieve severe traffic congestion in the capital city whose population is skyrocketing, for the development of infrastructure in Bangladesh. There is no words that could explain how the families of the victims must be feeling.
JSCE has built communication and cooperation with the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) since the two societies sealed an Agreement of Cooperation. Responding to rapid growth of economy and increasing needs of infrastructure in Bangladesh, JSCE will continue efforts to make contribution to the country's development, paying further attention to safety of the JSCE members and local engineers.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims as well as the people of Bangladesh.
