Civil Engineering Design Prize
Objectives:
Civil Engineering Design Prize is to recognize the
individuals and their affiliated organizations whose designs and constructed
structures are aesthetically excellent and have contributed to the enhancement
of the beauty of landscape, the improvement of convenience in life and also the
improvement of publicfs appreciation for structural design.
Ideal civil engineering is that it ensures society and
people a safe, secure and healthy environment and also provides the national
land and towns with beauty and grace. In order to realize the ideal, not only
do design engineers make efforts, but also people need to understand those
engineersf efforts and appreciate their achievements. In other words, the
engineers have to present the achievements that represent the ideal in form of
structures to the public in an convincing manner. Given this, designing serves
effectively and should be given more emphasis on in the civil engineering discipline.
Major subjects for structural design are town and
natural environment; planners and design engineers are doubtlessly required for
a good amount of time and efforts until completing the construction of a piece
of structure, beginning from drawing up a plan and design. And in addition to
good performance, to provide the structure with aesthetic features, they pursue
beauty uncompromisingly with a strong will and bountiful imagination, which
serve as a driving force for the people get involved in the construction to integrate
and move towards the goal of creating functionally and aesthetically excellent
structure.
By presenting the Civil Engineering Design Prize, the
Landscape and Design Committee seeks for public recognition of importance of structural
design and realization the planners and design engineersf efforts behind a construction.
